Communication

Attention to Communications prepares everyone involved for what will happen and keeps everyone aware and informed throughout the transition and beyond.  

When people know: 

  • what is going on, 

  • why it is important, and 

  • the role they play in making it work, 

Their overall understanding of the situation improves along with their willingness to do what it takes to make the change work.  

In other words, good communication fosters the kind of genuine commitment that is needed for real success – rather than grudging compliance, which can undermine otherwise successful results.


To ensure that good communication is maintained throughout the entire change process, CSG:

1. Helps organizations to prepare to communicate by:

  • Assessing their communication needs.

  • Developing an overall communications schedule.

  • Drafting each document to be used before, during, and after the change.

  • Helping to identify appropriate Communications Coordinators.

 

2. Helps organizations to execute their communication plan by:

  • Reviewing the draft of each document and making revisions and updates if needed.

  • Finalizing each document.

  • Ensuring that each document is distributed according to the communications schedule.

3. Helps organizations to assess the effectiveness of their communication plan by:

  • Gathering relevant data and information on the efficacy of the communication program.

  • Analyzing the feedback in order to develop an initial set of recommendations.

  • Conducting focus group sessions with selected personnel in order to confirm findings and finalize and prioritize recommendations.
